“M-E-D-Z, MEDZ, MEDZ, MEDZ!” You already know I had to incorporate New York into this collection. Having said that, we actually had the honor of watching Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Armenian-American football player, compete at the highest level for the New York Jets in the 2016-2017 NFL season.
The inspiration comes from Տիգրան Մեծ (Tigran Medz), the King of Armenia from 95 - 55 BC. In this short amount of time, Armenia became the strongest empire east of Rome with her borders spanning from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean. ‘Medz’ (Մեծ) in Armenian means ‘Great,’ so ‘Tigran Medz’ directly translates to ‘Tigran the Great.’
